The Fully Anonymous (BETA) anonymity setting keeps survey information that comes in from being linked to any individual in the CRM. This is done by assigning users a random user ID and can be useful for situations where full anonymity is legally required, or for contentious topics or any scenario where data is unwanted.

Participant location data will be visualized on the map within a general location only and will be shown as "Anonymous" when clicked. An exact location for the user will not be shown.

The participant will also be shown as "Anonymous" in the Participants list below the map. Clicking the icon next to the name will bring up the contact data from the CRM.

Within the CRM profile, only the general address for the contact as seen on the above map will be shown. Any segments or activity associated with the user will be seen here, but no human information will be available.

FAQ

Can the anonymity setting be changed after the project has gone live (published)?

Anonymity levels should always be chosen and set before the survey has gone live (published) and not changed afterward. Once Fully Anonymous mode is selected, the data will be permanently unavailable.
โ€‹Switching to another anonymity setting will not bring this data back.
The reverse is also true: changing from another anonymity setting to Fully Anonymous will not anonymize the data that has already been collected.

Can fully anonymous participants be segmented?

Fully anonymous participants can be segmented by:

  • Project participation

  • Demographics

  • Question response

  • Participant location

  • Comment tags

  • Custom people data

Fully anonymous participants cannot be segmented by:

  • Subscriber lists

  • Custom links

Are there any feature limitations for fully anonymous surveys?

There are a few features that do not support fully anonymous surveys:

  • Manual data entry

  • Kiosk mode

  • Meeting registration

  • Contact info questions

If the listed features are needed to conduct your survey, allow anonymous is suitable for most use cases. If you're not sure, we recommend reviewing our project anonymity settings article to review definitions of each anonymity setting available.

Can reports be generated and filtered by segments on fully anonymous surveys?

Yes, dynamic reports and data exports can be generated for fully anonymous surveys. These reports can also be filtered by segments as long as the segment type is supported.
