The Email & Text page is located on the left navigation bar in PublicInput. This page houses the Public | Contact platform, which allows the sending of outbound email and text campaigns. Without the Public | Contact license, outbound emails cannot be sent.

Inbound emails – meaning emails sent to a project-specific email address – can be responded to by project admin(s) via reply emails. These types of emails are usually managed within a project on the project's Email tab.

Email auto-replies can also be customized within a project, or for an outbound email campaign.

Outbound emails can be useful for:

  • Sharing engagement opportunities (Take the survey!)

  • Newsletters

  • Project updates

  • Community updates

  • Event notices

  • Public sector contract bid requests

  • and more!

QUESTION

ANSWER

How do I know if I can send an outbound email?

Click the Email & Text page - if you see the +New Campaign button, your account has access to the outbound email platform!
If not, you may only be able to respond (reply) to inbound project emails.

How is an email campaign admin assigned?

The user creating the email campaign is automatically added as the campaign admin. Additional email campaign admins can be added.

How will I know if an email reply is received?

The campaign admin(s) will be notified via email (your inbox) of replies to the email campaign. The person who initially creates the campaign is automatically added as the campaign admin. Additional admins can be added before the email is sent.

Can I create an email template?

What is the standard email width?

Standard email width is 600 pixels (px). We recommend sizing images to 600px wide or smaller ( > 600px.)

What is the recommended image size for emails?

We recommend sizing images to 600px wide or smaller ( > 600px.) This can be done in PublicInput by resizing the image (right click and adjust the image size) or before uploading the image to the image library.

Can I use tables in an email?

Tables in emails are possible, however they are not recommended. Mobile-responsive email layouts do not have tables, and will adjust the email content to a one column width, stacking the content so that it displays larger for mobile email users. (This also happens when using the text + image layout option provided in the PublicInput email builder.)

Is there a spam filter?

Yes! PublicInput has a spam folder that you can access from the Email & Text page, or the project's Email tab. We recommend you check it periodically through the duration of your project or initiative.
