To get started, on your project’s Home page, go to the Page & Survey tab.

Scroll down to the Project Questions and Dynamic Content section and click on the Add Content button.

A content box will be created at the bottom of the page (after the last question in your survey.) Scroll down to view and edit this content box, which provides a Rich Text Editor. You will add an image to the content box using this editor.

Tip: This is a WYSIWYG editor, and allows you to add links, text, tables, source code, etc.

In this example, we will add an image. To do this, click on the Image icon.

After clicking on the Image icon:

  1. If you have already added images using the PublicInput toolkit, images in your Media Library will be displayed.
  2. Alternatively, you can click the Browse... button and locate images on your computer manually, or Drag & Drop the files into the box.

In this example, we will select an image that's already in the library.

Scroll through the library images and select one. It will be displayed in the content box (at the bottom of the page.) Scroll to the bottom of the content box and click Save Changes.

Tip: You can move the content box in your project. Simply click on the three horizontal lines, and hold and drag the box to a new location.

Now, let's take a look at how your image is displayed on the live site.

At the upper right-hand corner of the page, click on the View Live Site button.

Now, let us take a look at how your image is displayed on the live site.

At the upper right-hand corner of the page, click on the View Live Site button.

Like what you see? Perhaps you would prefer a smaller or larger image?

Tip: If you try to make a large image smaller, you will still have good definition, but if you make a small image larger, the image may look a little skewed or pixelated and won’t be as crisp as the original. It is highly recommended that you start off with a large image and then reduce it.

Let’s make the current image smaller.

Go back to the the Page & Survey tab on your Home page (what we call the “back-end” of your survey.) Again, scroll down to the Project Questions and Dynamic Content section.

In the content box, double-click on the image.

The Image Properties window will pop up. Click on the Image Info tab.

Here you can adjust various properties for your image, including height and width.

Tips:

  1. You can use percentages to adjust the size of the image if you do not know the exact pixel dimensions.
  2.  Check that the lock icon is locked – this will keep the image from looking squished (it constrains the image proportions, i.e. height x width ratio.)
  3. You can also rotate your image by 90º using the circular arrow button () to the right of the lock.

Enter the same percentage in the Height and Width boxes and click OK at the bottom of the page to resize the image.

In the content box, click Save Changes.

Now you can go back to the live site and refresh the page to see the reduced image.

Experiment for the best results!
