Setting up a custom domain for a PublicInput Account

If you've already bought a domain or are looking to purchase one to point to PublicInput.com, here's how to get it set up.

The following guide covers steps to set up your custom domain with "domain masking," where visitors to your PublicInput.com page see your custom domain in their URL bar throughout their usage of the site. It is a more involved process than a "redirect," which simply re-routes traffic to your PublicInput.com site. All options support root and subdomains.

Please note:

Custom domains may take up to 10 business days to process. We currently only support pointing a domain to a project page or public portal.

There is a nominal impementation fee for domains purchased by customers and by PublicInput on behalf of customers.

All Inclusive - PublicInput will manage the domain & redirection to the asset (project page, public portal)

This option offers a headache free approach for customers. PublicInput will purchase the domain, configure the SSL certificate for secure traffic, and point it to the desired asset. All we need is the domain you wish to use. To start, click the button below and fill out the form.

Custom Domain Request Form - All Inclusive

Hybrid - Customer owns a domain. PublicInput will manage the SSL certificate and redirection to the asset (project page, public portal)

This option allows you to bring your own domain and use it within PublicInput. PublicInput will configure the SSL certificate for secure traffic and point it to the desired asset. You will just need to add the DNS records provided in the form below. To start, click the button below and fill out the form.

  • How long does this take?

    • Requests can take up to 10 business days to complete.

  • Can you purchase a .gov domain?

    • A private company cannot purchase a .gov domain because these domains are reserved exclusively for U.S. government organizations at the federal, state, and local levels. This restriction ensures the authenticity and credibility of government-related communication and services.
      While PublicInput can assist in this process by providing information, the application and authorization must be completed and submitted by the government entity itself.
