You can create a custom URL to track visitors in a campaign and automatically add them to a segment (group). You have the option to add custom URL users to an existing segment, or create a new segment. Segmenting is a useful tool to organize your participant data — for example, by creating a segment of participants who reach your survey through a specific outreach method (such as a local chamber of commerce's website,) you can then use this segment to more easily pull data insights and share this segmented data with relevant stakeholder groups (i.e. share with the Chamber of Commerce their community's biggest priorities.)

Step 1: Click the Settings tab.
OR
You could als click the arrow to the right of the View Live Site button in the top right corner. You'll then select Build Custom Link from the drop down menu.

In either case, you'll end up on the Settings tab, where you'll see the Build Custom Link section on the right of the page.

Step 2: Enter your unique shortcode.
Tip: If you're creating a custom link in another language, it is helpful to include the language your survey is translated in. For example, "elestudiodeEspanol."

Step 3: Ensure your shortcode does not contain spaces, is at least five characters and may not currently be in use. If any of these criteria are not met, the system will alert you. In the example above, the three green check marks indicate all criteria have been met.

Step 4: In this example, we will created a custom link for a campaign we want to share and monitor with our news partners. As we want to add campaign participants to an existing segment, we selected Targeted News Outreach from the drop-down list.

If you want to create a new segment, select Create a new segment from the drop-down list. This will allow the Segment Name text box will appear. Type a name for your Segment here.

In the example above, we have specified the Default Language as English.
Tip: If you want visitors to this URL to view the page in another language, you can choose a different default language from the drop-down menu. Learn more about custom language links here!

Step 5: Click Create Link

The new custom link will be displayed below.

This URL can now be shared online, in print, or used in an Outreach campaign. Visitors to this URL will automatically be added to the Targeted News Outreach segment.

👉Note: Your custom URL will also be assigned a custom QR code.

As your campaign progresses, you will be able to view and report on campaign participants or anyone else who has visited this URL.
