Managing the Live Phone Line

Written by Gregory O'Cavson

The Phone Line tab is where you manage the conference call bridge during a live meeting. It shows you exactly who is on the call right now and gives you direct audio controls for both the bridge and individual callers.

The tab updates in real time — callers appearing, leaving, raising their hands, and being muted or unmuted are all reflected immediately.

Layout

  • Conference Line Header — Bridge status, global audio controls, Admin PIN, and live call stats

  • Speakers Table — Callers who are speaking, queued to speak, or have raised their hand

  • Listeners Table — All other callers on the bridge who are not in the speaker queue

Global Audio Controls

There are two separate mute controls at the top:

  • Mute Meeting Audio — Mutes the phone line's audio inside the video conference. Use this when you want to silence the phone bridge for video participants without cutting off phone callers.

  • Mute Phone Line — Mutes the entire phone bridge. All callers on the bridge hear silence. Use this for a full bridge hold.

Note: These two controls affect different sides of the connection. "Mute Meeting Audio" affects what video participants hear; "Mute Phone Line" affects what phone callers hear.

Admin PIN

Your meeting's Admin PIN is displayed here for quick reference. Use it when dialing in as a host.

Do not share the Admin PIN publicly — anyone who has it can dial in with host-level controls.

Live Statistics

  • Connected callers — How many callers are on the bridge right now

  • Total callers — Running count of unique callers since the meeting started

Speakers Table

The Speakers table shows callers who are currently speaking, queued to speak, or have raised their hand. Each row shows the caller's name (if known), queue status, and action buttons for muting, unmuting, ending their turn, and other controls.

Quick workflow for raised-hand callers:

  1. See a caller with a Raised Hand status in the table

  2. Click their name to open the Register Listener Drawer

  3. Associate them with an existing registration or create a new one on the fly

  4. Move them into the speaker queue when ready

Listeners Table

The Listeners table shows all callers on the bridge who are not in the speaker queue. Same icon and action structure as the Speakers table. Use it to monitor passive attendees and promote someone to the speaker queue if needed.

Register Listener Drawer

When you click a caller's name in either table, the Register Listener Drawer opens. This lets you:

  • Associate an anonymous caller with an existing registered participant

  • Add them to the speaker queue on the fly without requiring them to have pre-registered

This is especially useful when someone calls in but didn't register in advance.

Plan-Gated Features

Some action buttons in the Phone Line tab display a padlock icon. This means the action requires a plan upgrade. If you see a padlock on a button you need, contact your account manager.

Typical Operating Workflow

  1. Open the Phone Line tab when the meeting goes live

  2. Monitor the Speakers table for callers with a Raised Hand status

  3. Use the Register Listener Drawer to associate callers with registrations

  4. Use mute and unmute controls as needed to manage audio

  5. Use the Spoke toggle (or equivalent control) to advance the speaker queue when a caller finishes

Common Questions

What's the difference between "Mute Meeting Audio" and "Mute Phone Line"? They control different sides of the connection. Mute Meeting Audio silences the phone bridge for video participants. Mute Phone Line silences everything callers hear on the bridge. Use them together or separately depending on what you need.

Why are some action buttons locked? A padlock icon means that action requires a plan upgrade. Contact your account manager for access.
